Serving the public sector proved a good fit for Bentley. The company was now working with small cities throughout Central Florida and surrounding counties. Work for the Florida Department of Transportation continued with facility renovations. One such project was the Lake City District Office renovation. The project called on all of Bentley’s services to expand and reconstruct an active campus.
Bill’s structural design expertise often led to new, unexpected projects. February of 1998 marks the year of one the deadliest series of tornadoes in Florida’s history. Seven tornadoes ravaged the Central Florida area. Bill played a role in assessing the damage on behalf of the insurance companies for businesses and homeowners. The experience from this event further strengthened the company’s understanding of building construction and the effects of wind events on Florida structures.
